Cry baby

Wow, time flies when you’re having fun! Boo turned one just a couple of weeks ago but it just hit me that a year has gone by since she was born. A year! Life with Boo has been pretty uneventful so far, she was born, fell asleep 10 minutes later, woke up whe she was 6 months old. Seriously, this kid lives to sleep. She woke us once a night to feed her until she was 8 weeks old and has slept through the night ever since. She caught a few colds but never anything serious enough to distract her from doing what she does best… you guessed it, sleeping! This is a perfect little girl that wakes up smiling and hardly ever cries. (Oh please, like YOU wouldn’t brag about a kid like this!)

So, yesterday was a bit strange to say the least. Boo just wouldn’t stop crying. So I checked for cuts, bruises, anything that might suggest she was in some sort of pain but, nothing. I know, I know, babies don’t need a reason to cry, but usually this one does. So I tried everything I could think of but she wasn’t hungry, thirsty, didn’t want to play, watch tv or read books. Every attempt to make her happy resulted in more and louder crying.
So a couple of hours, some fresh scratches and toy-made bruises later, I lost it. I mean, total mommy-meltdown. I looked at the sobbing, little pile of misery sitting next to me and started bawling. Related: Asstomouth

Of course, had I known this was the kind of entertainment that she was looking for, I would have done it a lot sooner.
Thankfully, nap-time rolled around and provided me with a much needed 3 hour break, which I spent draped over the couch thinking about what the hell happened back there! After that Boo woke up being her old little ray-of-sunshine self again.
I still can’t figure it out. When Pickles was a baby I was able to just tune him out and let him cry if there was nothing I could do for him. Of course, that was 7 years ago, am I getting rusty?

When Genius got home he almost hurt himself laughing when I told him what happened. Lucky for him, I was laughing about my silly self by then.

On a brighter note: Boo is standing up all by herself! I guess walking won’t be far behind! Actually, that’s a whole new reason to bawl. Where did my little baby go?!
